My seat is up for re-election next time, and I'm certainly keen to defend it for the Free Democrats; but if there are others interested, I suppose we'd better organise a primary election or something.

Yes, I'd like to put my name forward. I'm done with the confrontational nature of Cosa politics; I'd much rather the more reflective second chamber of the house where I'm less of a problem for anyone.

ALL RIGHTY! So - primary election. Open to all FreeDems, all Fiovan Freedems (it's just me and Charlie right now, isn't it?), or an open primary in Fiova?
The Leader probably has to make a call on this, unless Charlie and I can come up with rules we can agree on. And let's sort it out ASAP before we draw up the Cosâ list, because of course I'll want a place on that if I don't win the nomination for Senator.

Oh, sorry. The current list (as far as I can tell) of Fiovan Freedems is: me, Charlie, Txec Ereufiglheu, Deet, and Göd. Üc Tärfa and Jum Txec T-filgheu, as well, but they haven't responded to the Census so they're probably on the way out.

I haven't been watching Talossan politics for a very long time, so I don't know what you guys have been doing in the mean time. In a Senäts election I'd support strictly anti-monarchist stands as well as, erm, a grain of peculiarist liberalism.

Charlie says he wants an elected monarchy these days, which is not quite the same thing. Meanwhile, Dan Lorentz personally endorsed me recently, which makes me the Peculiarist candidate as well, ironically. |

On the one hand it might provide the satisfaction of seeing monarchy and monarchists stewing in their own grease, to make it less comfortable to sit on the throne, possibly... but on the other hand it could be perceived as a pinprick of a republicanism that is a hopeless minority project in Talossa. I'm undecided.

The empty throne idea is something which appeals to me, though I'm unsure as to whether it's more or less palatable than an elected monarch for most Talossans. Inherently, I don't have any objections, but I worry that it would lose some of the checks on the Seneschal that a two-person balance would have.
